LB Strategies, a company dedicated to making a positive impact in the community, was honored to be one of the Table Sponsors for the Equal Voice Foundation (EVF) Gala to celebrate women leaders in Ottawa, ON this week. It is a privilege to support this event and the inspiring work of the EVF as they honor the accomplishments of women in Canadian politics across all political parties and at all levels of elected office.
EVF is a national, bilingual, member-based, multi-partisan organization that — since 2001 — has been advocating for the equal representation of women in Canada’s Parliament, in provincial and territorial legislatures, and on municipal and band councils.
The EVF Gala is an annual event that serves as a platform to honor and celebrate the remarkable achievements of women in politics. It not only raises funds to support the Foundation’s vital programs and initiatives but also shines a spotlight on the pressing issue of gender equality in political decision-making. By encouraging women to actively engage in politics at all levels, the Gala emphasizes the profound significance of their voices in shaping our society’s future. Furthermore, EVF aims to foster awareness regarding the existing gender disparities in political representation and the necessity for more diverse voices in positions of power.
The event showcased remarks from representatives of all major Canadian political parties, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Other individuals who eloquently championed the indispensable role of women in our democracy at the event were:
- Karina Gould, Leader of the Government in the House of Commons of Canada (Liberal);
- Karen Vecchio, Shadow Minister for Women and Gender Equality and Youth and the Chair of the Standing Committee on the Status of Women (Conservative);
- Leah Gazan, Member of Parliament for Winnipeg Centre (NDP);
- Andreanne Larouche, Member of Parliament for Shefford (Bloc Québécois);
- Jonathan Pedneault, Green Party Deputy Leader;
- Melissa Lantsman, Conservative Party of Canada Deputy Leader; and
- Rachel Blaney, Member of Parliament for North Island—Powell River (NDP).
Guests were left spellbound by the enlightening and motivational words that filled the air.
Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, engaged in a thought-provoking conversation with renowned journalist Lisa LaFlamme. They delved into the experiences, barriers, and successes of women and gender-diverse individuals in politics and public life. Their discussion undoubtedly left a lasting impact, inspiring and empowering all attendees while reaffirming the importance of the EVF’s significant work.
At LB Strategies, we recognize the power of diverse perspectives and insights in creating meaningful and positive solutions for the challenges faced by society and businesses. The work of EVF serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration for those who believe in the importance of diverse voices in political decision-making, which is why we are proud to support their work and purpose.
