While passion is a powerful driving force for many entrepreneurs, ambition takes it a step further by adding purposeful action. In the realm of entrepreneurship, mere passion is insufficient. It is crucial to have a deep understanding of your craft and possess or learn the necessary business acumen.
LB Strategies had the privilege of attending its first Women Entrepreneurs Saskatchewan (WESK) Connect event last night. The event featured Jolene Watson, the Owner of Creating Connections, and Kimberly Evans, the CEO of Joy PR Studio and host of The Joy Curator Podcast
During the event, Jolene shared invaluable insights and wisdom. She emphasized that achieving success requires a delicate balance of passion (20%) and ambition (80%). Her words resonated with me and reminded the audience of the key ingredients needed to thrive in the entrepreneurial world. Ambition is crucial and effective when accompanied by action, like a well-crafted business plan, a deep understanding of your break-even point, and the flexibility to adapt your services or products to the ever-changing market.
Kimberly proved to be an exceptional host and interviewer, skillfully extracting captivating and pertinent insights and guidance for the audience.
Jolene, as the interviewee, not only offered practical advice on networking, but data to go along with it. For example, 91 percent of her current business is due to in-person networking. She also shared valuable insights on regulating emotions, aligning your business with your personality, body language to communicate authenticity, and creating effective systems. Jolene provided excellent suggestions on the use of physical versus digital business cards and strategically selecting networking events based on your target customers.
Jolene’s commitment to continuous learning truly resonated with me. Her numerous certifications and ongoing pursuit of knowledge serve as an inspiration. It reminded me of my ever-growing Audible listen list, the stack of podcasts waiting to be heard, and the multitude of courses and certifications I’ve taken this year alone. Confirming my intuition that the journey of learning is never-ending, and I couldn’t be more thrilled about it!
Listening to Jolene and Kimberly discuss their experiences and tips, reminds us of the power of community, mentorship and support in entrepreneurship. Events like these provide a space for like-minded individuals to connect, learn from each other, and grow.
As LB Strategies continues to expand and develop, and are thankful for the chance to participate in events like WESK Connect. Hearing from remarkable women entrepreneurs like Jolene and Kimberly, inspires us even further to not only be passionate, but ambitious!
